Rishi Sunak will set Britain on the path to lower taxes ahead of the next election once the economy improves, a cabinet minister has said.
In an interview with The Times Grant Shapps, the energy security and net zero secretary, said that once inflation had fallen the Tories “absolutely” would need to cut taxes.
He highlighted Sunak’s pledge during the Tory leadership contest to cut income tax from 20p to 16p by 2030, starting with a 1p cut next year.
